  Beef Cattle Production

The AVS Beef Production program serves Idaho´s number-one agricultural commodity--BEEF CATTLE. The Idaho Beef industry contributes from $500 million to $700 million annually, depending upon fluctuating market conditions, to Idaho´s $13.6 billion state economy. The Beef Cattle industry is one of the most influential single impactors of Idaho´s economy, joined by potatoes, dairy, and wheat. The AVS Department conducts research and/or educational programs in the areas of cow-calf nutrition, feedlot nutrition, herd- and feedlot-health management, herd- and feedlot-production management, range cow management, integrated resource management, and sustainable management and production practices.

Clientele served include cow-calf production herd owners, feedlot cattle owners and feedlot operators, meat packers and processors, students, allied industries, beef cattle industry consultants, youth and extension educators.
