Current and Planned Events
This fall the feed bunks in pen #309 along the road were replaced by new feed bunks. The old cement bunks are a hazard. Lambs tend to fall into them and get stuck. The new bunks were installed in response to this problem. Currently, only one pen has been installed with the new feed bunks. It is planned to eventually replace all of the old cement bunks along the road.
Once the extension to the lambing barn is complete a pole hay shed is the next major improvement to be constructed. Currently hay stored outside is covered with tarps which makes it difficult to access. With a hay shed, it will allow for more storage space, reduced weather damage, and easier access to the stored hay.
Weather curtains have been put up on the shelters in the pens along the road. The purpose of these curtains are to reduce the amount of moisture and wind that the sheep are exposed to while being just far enough off the ground to allow free access by the sheep.
