Responsibilities

Managing the growth biology research program in the areas of cellular biology, biotechnology and molecular biology by providing major oversight for the program including providing training and supervision of laboratory staff.  Performs qualitative and quantitative analyses in the areas of cellular biology, biochemistry and molecular biology using zebrafish and other models including primary cells and cell lines derived from various species to understand developmental roles or regulatory pathways controlling energy metabolism, nanomaterials in understanding cell and molecular biology mechanisms and applications.  Current focus :Cloning and structural characterization of genes regulating energy metabolism pathways, quantifying their mRNA expression at different developmental or physiological stages, identifying the tissues that express transcripts of specific gene families, identifying gene regulatory regions, and their cloning, in vitro and in vivo characterization. Applies theoretical principles and develops laboratory protocols; interacts with collaborating faculty and other technical support personnel; and independently tests and modifies established methods and develops new procedures to meet the goals of the laboratories
